The Need
Tree stands are essential tools for hunters, offering elevated vantage points that improve visibility and scent control. However, they are also the leading cause of hunting-related injuries, particularly climber-style stands where separation of components can result in falls. Additionally, hunters face ergonomic challenges transporting heavy gear and game across rugged terrain. There is a clear need for safer, more efficient equipment that reduces injury risk and logistical burden.

The Technology
This innovation, developed by OSU engineers, is a convertible climber-style tree stand that transforms into a wheeled game cart. It features a novel linkage system that securely connects the top and bottom sections of the stand, preventing separation during use. This dual-function design enhances safety during hunting and simplifies field logistics without compromising usability.

Commercial Applications
• Hunting equipment for recreational and professional hunters
• Outdoor gear for wildlife researchers and conservationists

Benefits/Advantages
Enhanced Safety: Prevents bottom platform separation, reducing fall risk
Dual Utility: Functions as both a tree stand and a game cart
Ergonomic Design: Reduces physical strain by enabling wheeled game transport
Compact and Portable: Collapsible design for easier field deployment
Market Differentiation: Combines two essential hunting tools into one product
