Scott Osborne

Vice President, Innovation and Economic Development

Scott Osborne is the Vice President of Economic and Corporate Engagement at The Ohio State University, where he is responsible for strategic company partnerships, technology commercialization, new ventures and economic development. Osborne leads the Corporate Engagement Office, which helps connect Ohio State faculty, students and staff with companies, investors and the community to establish mutually-beneficial relationships. The office is also responsible for coordinating university technology startups and the university’s involvement in Smart Columbus—a region-wide smart city initiative co-led by the city of Columbus and the Columbus Partnership.

With experience in research, commercialization and business development, Osborne has deep connections in both the public sector and industry. Prior to his current role, he was the assistant dean for research in Ohio State’s College of Engineering. In previous roles, he was director of business development at BioOhio and held management positions at Battelle and Abbott Laboratories, among other companies. Osborne also served as the CEO of BioLOC, an Ohio State startup company.

Scott holds an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology and a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis.
